PCI-DSS (Data Security Standard)
Assessment Overview – Pearls International conducts and pays for an annual assessment which is required for merchants and service providers. Assessments are conducted by a Qualified Security Assessor (“QSA”).
What is a PCI Assessment?
The Payment Card Industry (PCI) requires merchants and service providers that store, process, or transmit credit card data to have a detailed security assessment by a PCI SSC certified QSA. The purpose of the assessment is to validate that the merchant or service provider is handling card data in accordance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
Is it Required?
All merchant or service providers are required to be assessed annually. The definition of level varies depending on the Card Brands accepted by the merchant. Fines and deadlines are assessed for non-compliance.
