Idocrase, or Aztec Jade, is a rare volcanic mineral with similar hardness, toughness, and chemical formula as Jadeite and Nephrite Jades, but in a lighter chartreuse to lime green color range. A perfect compliment to this year’s Pantone color “Greenery”.
This material is found exclusively in a remote area near Hermosillo, Mexico, and was used in decorative jewelry and ornaments by the local natives of that area. It is said to be metaphysically useful in clearing repetitive or negative thought patterns. It is also said to release pent up anger and fears.
Idocrase is also known as Vesuvianite, Californite, California Jade, and Caribbean Jade.
